Minibands is a long-term project by Mary & Eli Chartkoff (Monolators, Cobra Lilies, Dawn of Sequins, Madame Headdress). We always wanted to form side projects & new bands with friends and people we've met by playing music in Los Angeles, but everyone is already in multiple bands as it is and nobody has time to commit to yet another one. To get around this we decided for form a series of 'mini-bands' with strict limitations: each band will only record a single EP, play a single show, and then break up. All of the minibands records will have 6 original songs and one cover.

The Little Details is the third miniband, formed with Donna Bummer and Tommy Santee Klaws.

This miniband started when Eli's parents bought a house in Northern California with a barn on the property. Up in the barn's hayloft Eli found an abandoned cd jewel case containing what appeared to be mildewed, hand-drawn cover art for a band (or album) called The Little Details, along with a paper cutout in the shape of a compact disc complete with hand-written track list. Based on the art, handwriting, and spelling quirks we decided that this was an art project created by children (possibly named Hana and Emily) for their imaginary band, The Little Details.

We decided to make an EP based on this find, and to write new songs to go along with the 7 titles listed on the paper cd (except for track 3, listed as "mocorana," which we interpreted as a cover of The Macarena). Mary & Eli wrote 3 of the new songs and Donna and Tommy wrote the other 3. Before we could start recording Tommy and Donna moved to Iowa, so these songs were recorded long-distance by sending half-finished tracks back and forth between Iowa and California.

This record is dedicated to the original Little Details, wherever you are, and we hope you like our interpretations of your song titles. If you're reading this please get in touch.
